We were like, ok we got a house, guess we should get married this month.
Got the license a week later. Called a judge and setup a court wedding a week in advance.
Got a meeting at a reception place. The person there couldn't get over the fact that we were planning an event for only one month away. But it actually turned out good that way. Noone does weddings on sunday, and since the day wasn't taken yet at only a month away, they gave us like half off the price. And the saturday reception rented a tent for the patio, but that won't get picked up until monday, so we get a tent for free.
I'm a big fan in not planning a wedding... saved me a lot of headache as far as I'm concerned. And I'm also a big fan in not spending a lot of money on just one day. Think of all the legos and anime and retro sega games I could buy with 10 grand. If I had 10 grand. I know some people at work who still have loans out on their wedding from several years ago.
I was the best man at my freinds wedding a couple weeks ago. He went the traditional route. I have to say there's something about all the traditional stuff that's just kinda creepy. We actually much preferred the spiel the judge gave to the spiel the priest gave. On the other hand, it doesn't always feel like we really got married, since you're so used to seeing the big white weddings. Of course I can't believe my best friend is married too. I can't believe we're growing up. No, actually we're not. Never.
