Hey! Get your mind out of MY gutter!

...seriously, there are only 2 reasons I'm remotely interested in Hikaru no Go. The first is the "Go Go Igo" go lesson at the end of every episode; I think it's kind of cute. And the second reason is, of course, the totally unintentional yet still absolutely hilarious homoerotic double entendres. (I realize this is a perverse reason to enjoy a show. What can I say? I've never even TRIED to deny being a weirdo...)

There's a difference. The first few episodes of Kyo are pretty cool (hence the reviews), only then you figure out that the Emperor isn't wearing any clothes. Azumanga Daioh, if anything, gets better as it goes along, because the characters play off each other so well and you simply continue to get to know them.

I have heard that the show's entire drawing point is the characters. (The animeondvd crowd was apparently pretty impressed.) Since they're still being introduced I will ignore the blatant Initial-D-esque quality the show has (come on! Where's my Eurobeat soundtrack? If you're going to have that kind of a show you at least have to have a cool soundtrack. Gotta rage my dream, dude...) and give it 2 or 3 more episodes.

I find it interesting, and actually well thought out, that a minor death god would have the ability to age people, considering what exactly it means to grow older (...all we are is dust in the wind...). I think it's silly that such a thing could actually be *reversed* by a god of death, even if he DID do it in the first place.

*snip*

>Wish fulfillment series, I guess? ^^

Yeah, except for the "another one bites the dust" part. The entire reason I have ANY interest in the show at ALL is the fact that she's supposed to die.

...of course whether I'll be able to sit through it is another matter.

I'll have to agree with you on both points. The computer guy's backstory is fairly interesting.
