On a side note, I read in a travel book about Japan that Japanese people can't really make the "F" sound. The author reported amusement when someone told him, "Huck you." He claimed that it always sounds more like "H" than "F".

Technically, it's called an absence of aspiration. Since they don't aspirate certain consonants, they say "L" instead of "R" and "J" instead of Chinese (aspirated) "X"/"Ch".

Not to knock Japanese people.

Of course, you can't believe everything a travel book says. That's hor sure.
