Hm? ^^;

I was. It wasn't sort of. ^_^;;

Yeah. Timing and editting 2 episodes a week. @_@ By the end my ability to understand Kenshin's weird speech pattern went up a lot, and I could sing along with Sobakasu without missing a word.

>Dunno if she was actually translating anything, though.

Nah. I didn't know enough Japanese back then to translate. Besides we had Shoko, who always shall be better at translating than me 'cause she's bilingual in English and Japanese.

Honestly, I don't see that much of a problem translating one episode to demonstrate what I mean. It wouldn't be a copy of Geofront's Kenshin translation, because Akito and Shoko will never agree to give out even to me and other people who helped make it. Even if they did actually do that for some reason, Shoko's translation doesn't have Kenshin using archaic language because she took the viewpoint that the "degozaru"s didn't really convey any meaning.

The real problem is translating an episode takes quite awhile, and with Kenshin it'd take longer because they use a lot of less common words, which probably aren't in my Japanese vocabulary. If actually subbed the episode on top of that (which I assume is what Jake wants) it would take even longer. And as a grad student, I don't know that I can afford to spend 10 hours or more subbing an anime episode just to make a point about translation. ^O^
