"Title: The Night Before He's to Say 'I Do'"
Author: Dee
Rating: PG-13

Summary: Theresa has told Ethan that she doesn’t love him, and he seems to be losing his mind.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters from “Passions” Soap Opera.

*************************************

Theresa was laying blankets on her floor beside her bed for Ethan. She didn’t realize that things would get this crazy.

“If I only told Ethan months ago that I loved him, then maybe he wouldn’t have had to tell Gwen so close to the wedding that he loved me too.” She thought to herself.

“No use trying to fix this mess now. Ethan and I cannot have a future. We will not have a future. I love him too much. I would die if something would happen to him. I would just die.”

“Theresa, do you know what you’re going to do about this?” Whitney asked her.

“No Whit. I haven’t got a clue. It’s going to take everything out of me not to tell him tonight that I lied, and that I really do love him.”

“Theresa you can’t! What if Gwen’s mother find out?”

“I know Whitney. I’m going to stick to the plan. Ethan mustn’t ever find out that I lied. If not for his sake, for mine.”

Chad brought Ethan inside Theresa’s room and laid him on the soft pallet she had made for him.

“Thank you Chad.” She said softly, so she wouldn’t disturb Ethan.

“Theresa, he was really messed up tonight. If he wakes up and realizes that he is in your room, there’s no telling what he might do.”

“Chad, Ethan won’t hurt me in any way. I’m sure of that. I just hope I can keep my distance from him if he does wake up.”

Whitney hugged her friend and told her to call her house if she needs her.

“Thank you Whit. I’ll call you tomorrow. Thanks again Chad. I’m sure I’ll be all right here with him.”

“Just remember to call us if you need us. O.K.?”

“O.K.” Theresa said with uncertainty.

After that Chad and Whitney headed for home.

***********************************

Theresa sat on her bed for a moment giving a glance over at the man who lay on her bedroom floor. She wondered if she should attempt to rid him of his clothes.

“I do want him to be comfortable.” She mumbled to herself.

She went over to him and knelt down beside him. He was beautiful. The look on his face was filled with confusion yet desire.

She wondered what dreams filled his head.

She started to unbutton his shirt. She dreamed about doing this many times before. She believed he had those same dreams. Her coming into his room and slowly unbuttoning his shirt, and placing her soft warm hands across his chest.

When she carefully replaced his shirt, she looked down at the draw string pants he wore. She moved down to his feet, and placed a knee on each side of his legs.

Her hands began to work his pants gradually downward.

After she got them off, she lifted her body on her knees over him. She folded the pants and the shirt that lay beside him.

After she placed the items to his right, she was about to rise when Ethan pulled her down on top of him.

This movement stunned her as she fell upon his chest.

“I love you Theresa.” He trailed off.

Terrified, thinking that he awoken, Theresa whispered a no in his ear. But she realized that he was still asleep and must have been dreaming of her.

*************************************

She laid flat on her stomach with her head tilted Ethan’s way watching him. She had seen Ethan with only his boxers on before, but never in her room. Desire filled her heart, and she wanted, so bad, to go and lay next to the man who haunted her dreams each night.

She loved him so much. She wanted to wake him up and tell him that it had all been a lie. But she thought better of it.

There was no way she could spend that fairy tale ending with him that she so often dreamt of. Her heart was breaking fast. She was so confused by the irony of it all. First, it was Ethan who couldn’t be with her. Now the shoe was on her foot.

He was marrying a woman he didn’t love, and he was stewing over a woman he couldn’t have. The agony of it was too much for Theresa to bear. She finally couldn’t watch him any longer and drifted into sleep.

***************************************

It was nearly one o’clock in the morning and Ethan started to twist and turn. His eyes fluttered open, and he suddenly realized that his head was pounding.

“Where am I?” He said softly to himself.

“Chad, where are you?” He whispered.

He could hardly raise his head, but he could remember guzzling down beers with Chad at his bachelor’s party.

Bachelor Ethan Crane was to be married tomorrow. And not to the woman he loved with all his heart. He wanted to still hold on to the possibility that fate would get him out of it. But he knew that fate would not come to his rescue. He believed mainly in fate because of Theresa, but now she was gone. Gone from his life because she didn’t love him.

“Where am I? Am I on the floor? What happened?”

Ethan couldn’t quite remember what happened tonight. Or why he seemed to be on the floor. But then something happened to make his heart flicker.

“Ethan.” Theresa had whispered in her sleep.

He knew that whisper. He had heard it so many times. Then the scent of her came flushing through his nostrils.

“That’s Theresa’s voice. Where is she?”

He struggled to his knees, his head still feeling a bit groggy. Could she be in that dark room with him? He wondered where he was again.

He finally lifted his body up and took a look around the dark room.

The moonlight was lighting every area that came into his view. And then he saw her. His heart was calling out to the woman that lay across the bed in front of him.

“Theresa.” He softly cried out.

He started to remember the ride from the party and how he banged on her door to let him in. He remembered falling into her arms, but after that he drew a blank.

He crawled over to her bed to get a closer look. He pinched himself to make sure he wasn’t dreaming.

She laid flat on her stomach with her hair all over the pillow. He brushed it completed out of her face and was intoxicated by her beauty. Thoughts of her not wanting him came rushing through his mind.

He had lost her. After everything they had been through to get to that point, she had decided that it was all a big mistake. She was only infatuated with him. How could he possibly let her go?

She lay before him in all her innocents. He couldn’t believe they were so close to one another. No one else was around. And the room was lit by the soft glow of the moon.

Theresa turned over onto her back as she struggled to stay asleep. Her covers rustled away from her revealing soft flesh not covered by her black lacy teddy.

“I have to have her.” Ethan softly moaned.

“Just one kiss and I’ll let her go. One kiss to end all kisses. One touch to never touch again.”

Ethan moved in closer and could feel her breath wash over his lips. Before he took her mouth into his she whispered his name once more.

“Ethan.”

He couldn’t wait any longer. She was calling out to him. She needed him as much as he needed her.

He leaned over and placed his lips on top of hers. He parted her lips with his tongue, and caught his breath as she responded to his touch.

She was kissing him back. More passionately than she had ever done before.

That’s all it took for Ethan to climb on top of her to finish out his excursion.

He wanted her bad. His whole body ached to make her a part of him. His kisses were gentle at first, but then they became starved. He was like a poor man who hadn’t eaten in days.

His hands roamed her bare flesh. Touching every part of her marking every spot with his ownership. He couldn’t help himself. He started to peel away at her lacy teddy that she wore to bed.

“Oh Theresa, I want you. I need you. You’re mine. All of you belong to me.”

“Oh Ethan, I want you too. I love you. I will always love you.”

“I knew it. I knew you couldn’t mean what you said to me on the wharf the other night. You do love me.”

Reality sunk in quick as Theresa realized that this was no dream she was having. She opened her eyes and found Ethan laying on top of her, kissing her, and trying to rid her of her garments.

“Ethan?” She said fully awake now.

“Yes Theresa.” He responded, thinking everything was all right between them.

“Get off of me!” She said pushing him away.

Ethan lifted his head in bewilderment.

Huh, was the only remark he seemed to let slip through his mouth.

“Get off of me, now!”

Ethan slowly moved off of her with reservation. She reached for her robe to cover herself up so he wouldn’t be tempted anymore. But of course he was tempted to the fullest, and nothing, not even a bathrobe could stop what his body was feeling for her at that moment.

“Theresa you told me you loved me, and that you want me, and I couldn’t be more happy.”

“I’m sorry Ethan, but I wasn’t awake. I was dreaming. I was… I was dreaming about Chuck.”

Why did she say that to him? It was like twenty daggers stabbing him right in his heart.

“What do you mean, you were dreaming about Chuck? You don’t love Chuck, you love me.”

“No Ethan.” She said rising out of the bed.

“I’ve realized that it was Chuck all alone that I loved. You see, you were right. It was infatuation I was feeling for you. I got so caught up in that kiss on the wharf that night, that it made me believe I had feelings for you when I didn’t.”

“That’s not true Theresa. You lie. You kissed me with more passion than you’ve ever kissed me before. It was my name you called out in your sleep, not Chuck’s.”

Theresa walked over to the window as Ethan rose from the floor. She didn’t want him to see her face. She was so in love with him that she thought it would show even in that dark room.

He walked over to where she stood in the moonlight. He put his hands on her arms and kissed her neck gently.

“Tell me you don’t feel anything when I do this.”

Theresa shut her eyes, and felt her insides tremble at the warmth of his tongue. She arched her body back against him, and threw her head backwards.

“Stop Ethan. Don’t do this to me.”

Ethan continued to kiss her neck as his hands let the robe she was wearing drop to the floor. His hands moved to her breast that was covered by her black lacy teddy. He stroked her very softly, coming to the tips as they instantly hardened.

“No Ethan, don’t” She panted.

His hands roamed down her center, to the sides of her hips until it reached the hem of her fleecy number. He delicately began to massage her inner thighs that were becoming moist with his touch.

This was too much for Theresa. She knew she had to move away from him before she let him have his way with her. She so wanted it to be her way too. It was what she wanted, but couldn’t have.

“Stop Ethan, don’t do this.”

Her voice was slightly raised and she pushed his hands from her hot and willing body. She went to her bed for refuge, and covered herself up with her blanket.

Ethan walked over to the bed and sat by her.

“Theresa, we’re alone in here. No one has to know that we are together tonight. That thing that is stopping you from loving me doesn’t have to know that our love will be celebrated in the most desirable way.

Theresa wanted to give in to Ethan’s demands, but could hear Rebecca’s voice saying that it would be him that would meet his fatal call.

She dropped her head hoping that he would just leave her alone. But he couldn’t. He wouldn’t.

“Theresa look at me. Let me kiss you just once. Prove to me that it’s over. If you don’t kiss me back then I’ll know it’s over for good.

Theresa thought long and hard. If she could just proved to Ethan that she didn’t love him, then his life would be spared. But could she do it? Could she have his lips take her in a very emotional way and not respond? The passion was almost too hard to bear, but she agreed. This was it. The moment of truth. She had to make him believe that she didn’t love him, and that it was time for him to move on.

Ethan moved closer to her. He knew that this kissed counted on the future of his happiness. He had to make Theresa respond to his kiss. His life depended on it. Only if he knew his life depended on her not responding.

He was finally there. His mouth took over hers. She wouldn’t part her lips, and he tried harder. The harder he tried, the tighter her lips became. They were both fighting to win a losing battle.

Ethan pushed on more and more, but Theresa wasn’t letting up. He raised his hands to her arms to get a reply out of her, but her lips remained tightly sealed.

Despair started to wash over Ethan’s entire body. He was losing her fast. This was fates way of saying move on. She really doesn’t love you.

No! I have to try harder was his thoughts, piercing him in his heart. I can’t lose her. I won’t lose her.

“Bring her back Ethan.” He thought to himself.

He tried harder, but got no response. His life began to slip from him. If he couldn’t have Theresa, he believed his life was over.

No more Elvis or Luigi routines. No more trying to teach her how to ski. There would be no more bubble fights, which he would call a truce. And no more dancing, feeling like they were made to fit perfectly in each other’s arms.

It was over. He had lost her. He had lost his one true love. Defeat had crept in, and he could feel the tears beginning to sting his eyes.

Just as Ethan began to pull away, the inconceivable happened. Theresa slightly parted her lips. Tears flowing from her eyes, because she believed that she just sealed Ethan’s fate.

She took his lips for all they were worth. She pulled him into her cradle of humanity. She couldn’t stop loving him, and wouldn’t stop loving him. He was hers and she belonged to him. Her only hope now was that they could somehow get through what was keeping them apart.

Ethan’s tears mingled with hers. He thought that he had lost her. But she gave herself to him. To be wanted and needed by him. And most of all to be loved by him.
