The selection of the light source has clearly a great importance in any piece of lighting design. Among the lamp characteristics which have to be taken into account
Are efficacy, heat output, size, life, robustness and colour properties. We have also consider any differences in installation and maintenance costs.
Lighting equipment(P10)
43. In turning to look at lighting equipment itself in more detail we must naturally separate the lamp (the source of light), from the luminaire which applies the lamp produces.
Daylight and electric light
208. The simultaneous presence of daylight is a major factor in the selection of an appropriate lamp colour. Its mention leads us to a brief consideration of the general relationship between daylight and electric light.
