The Ambush

An energy signature flashed on Bro'Grim's sensors when the laser fired. Seconds later he watched members of the group he was approaching rush off in the same direction. The Battletactical AI instantly kicked in arming and powering up all the cyber-dragon's weapons. Metallic wings swung out and extended as the jets burned rocketing him into the sky.

The Combat Protocols designed for the Bosnian conflict were now engaged in this strange, unknown world.

Star Cross Labs

"It's not working..." Dr. Faust complained. "There must be something wrong if they haven't replied. Or won't reply. We could be dealing with hostile forces!"

One of the Lab assistants looked up from his station, "Please Doctor, you must be patient." He walked over and handed Faust a PAD filled with more data on the situation. "Remember, there's going to be a 48 second delay. That means there could be a 96 second delay between you and the other lab."

The eccentric doctor took this into consideration and frowned. "Ever since I was a child, I could hardly stand suspense. Even at the hollidays I had to know what was under those neatly decorated gift boxes!"

"Yes, Doctor, I know. And that's why you developed the Scanner, a tool for seeing inside of packages and the like. The very same tool that's used by agencies against contraband and smugling."

"I've told you that story before, eh?" The Dcotor smiled. "Has anyone else heard it?"

"YES!" was the resounding and unanimous reply across the lab.
