He scooped the small girl up as if she weighed ounces instead of pounds, carrying her over one shoulder. "All right, then...see what info you can get out of that local kid--I'm gonna try again once we get her inside... A few minutes later, Paige was lying in one corner of the room, still deathly gray and covered in blankets, Shade once agan trying to probe her consciousness. Meanwhile, Ramierez turned to Simon. "We're...not from around here," he explained, "not wanting to reveal their extradimensional origins just yet. "Who exactly were those people who were shooting at you earlier?"
