Most of their "guards" stayed behind as the group disappeared through the little portal (it's not like they had a lot of choice in the matter, after all) and reappeared on an ordinary open meadow. Ordinary, that is...except that the horizion seemed to curve UPWARDS...
As the group looked upward, they could see that they seemed to be standing on the inside of a huge globe, about five miles or so in diameter. Higher up on the sides, and even directly above them, they could see people walking here and there normallyy--despite the fact that, from the group's prespective, they were walking upside-down.
There was light, which seemed to radiate fro the center og the globe; however, when they looked up, there was no blinging, sunlike orb in the sky, now any other kind of artifical light ources. There WAS light, obviously--but from what they could tell, there was no source for it.
In the field about them, they could see more of the fairy-like creatures flying about. Many oof them seemed to live in huge, hollowed-out trees along the edges of the meadoy.stopped to lookk curiously at the newcomers. As they followed the woman across the field, they passed larger housed, where other people looked at them. Some were elvisdh in appearence, while otherss looked human. And maybe they were, it was hard to tell here.
Soon they reacheda huge, palace made of thich slabs ob obsidian, glistening in the light and almost transluucent at the spires. A pair of human guards saluted as she approached, carrying halberds and clad in glistening suits of plate armor with gold and silver inlays. As the gate opened, she turned to the group.
"Ther is much you need to know about this place--but you appear to be tired. We'll explain over dinner."
Presently, they found themselves in a cavernous room with several long tables, one of which was laid out with every kind of wild game and vegestable imaginable--and a few that weren't (it WAS an alien planet, after all).
"Make oyurselves at home. Once everyoe's setled in, I'll explain our current situation--and why we attacked you earlier."
