There are plenty of them, but I'll grab the 1994 Division II Region II Semi-Final at Texas Stadium between Plano East and Tyler. Very few high school games make National news but this one did.
PESH had just lost a couple of fumbles-for-touchdowns.They were down 41-17 and time was running out in the fourth quarter. They refused to give up, however, and began what appeared to be the greatest comeback in Texas high school history. They scored and with the scoreboard showing 41-24, they made a string of three successful onside kicks and took a 44-41 lead with a couple of seconds remaining in the game. The crowd was crazy on the local side and deathly quiet on the Tyler side. Many fans thought the game was over, but there had to be a kick-off. It inexplicably went deep toward a Tyler speedster. He raced up the sideline 95 yards and scored. Final score: Tyler 48, Plano East 44. Tyler went on to win the State Championship but never forgot that one.
