So I just lost my post somehow...crap! well anyway, basically Mom and I both talked about your post (thanks for the info) but obviously hadn't posted. I have bookmarked both sites. I can't order the training materials yet though cause I have no dinero. Is there not some shareware as well? I have looked a little but not found much. As for the OS we were talking about using it as well. Were you the one that said to have one OS just for downloads? I thought that was a great idea although obviously this system has a lot to offer in other ways as well. Keep on sharing any links you have to helpful stuff. I am always interested. As a matter of fact a thread with useful links to add to from time to time is a great idea. There are such threads on each of the ebay boards and I go to them all the time so..everyone ante up. Now that I've said that I can only think of inane sites but then I am not a computer god and so no one is surprised. :-P By the way I will call you today or tomorrow. When is a good time?

Here's a good perl tutorial:
www.perlmonks.org

and a place for some other stuff:

These are decent online resources for the technology inclined to get some info, tho' as I recall you have to pick through the "learnthat" site to find the good stuff.

Its easier to learn technology than to learn attention to detail.

Here are a couple of worthwhile tutorials on perl and PHP:

An Introduction to PHP

Perl is an extremely useful programming language that works very well to create utilities for data manipulation but its also one of the most used languages for website enhancements. It is very good for graphics display and manipulation.

Perl Tutorial: A basic program

PHP is a very cool programming language that is used in adding functionality to websites. If you can do html then PHP is not to big a step to take. Of course to really leverage the value of PHP its good to put it with MySQL as well. The three items in this bundle would then be Apache (webserver), PHP (programming) and MySQL (database). All three work independently as well but they are most useful in combination. Also all three are free and I believe they are included in the bundle of Fedora. All three can also be loaded on a windoze OS but that would probably be more trouble than merely installing fedora in a dual boot config. Then you have stable installs in a superior environment.
