From whence dost thou hail?

For New Years Eve the immediate family drove up to Ruidoso and hanged out with Gay's family in their cabin on the hill. It was an uneventful event and the next day we came home to prepare for the new week. A disturbing circumstance occurred wherein, because of the vagueries of working for the evil that is public "education", I went to work on Monday while Edie had a day off. Of course I'd had the prior two weeks off but it was still odd and unsettling.

For the last little bit we've been looking for a broke ass vehicle for Jacob to fix up as he apparently has the "mechanic" gene and hasn't been able to exercise the inherent proclivities. The plan had been to let him have the Hyundai I'm currently driving for his commute to UTEP in the fall but he stated a preference for a POS he could restore. On the drive up to Ruidoso, passing through Alamogordo, we espied a likely candidate of a POS. On the return trip we stopped long enough to acquire the asking price, the seller's phone number and a sense of the decrepid nature of the vehicle in question. Jacob made the call and the following weekend we returned to the scene of the grime for a second look. To our surprise the care actually ran and after Jacob engaged in the token "barter", we drove the thing home. Jacob now has a ragged out (though the body seems in good condition) 1975 280Z sitting in the driveway awaiting an infusion of money and elbow grease.

That boy made out like a bandit this year for Xmas.

Now assuming my TIVO has done its job, I must go and watch the current episode of 24.

That's awesome; I'll bet he's pretty happy.

I would input some more stuff here, but it's 2:19 in the a.m., and I have to be at work in like, way too soon many hours, and I'm not even making sense now.

I am jealous of your TIVO thing . . . Josh and I (and Haley and Monroe and John Glaze) got addicted to LOST and need a season 2 fix desperately.

More later, when I'm actually coherent and stuff.

Yeah.

TIVO's cool.

heh heh, heh... You said TIVO.

There are a couple things you can do in regard to tivo. First is to go on Ebay and buy one with a small hard drive for cheap. I know you can get a 40 hour series 2 for about 50 bucks. The other thing would be to find the open source freeware version (which requires no money but research, configuration, etc on a computer). I'd go for the small-drive tivo in your situation because they can be easily upgraded when you want to and have the dinero to do so. Check out weaknees.com for info on upgrades and the like.
