come on guys. You seem to be going out of your way to find negatives where they didn't really exist.

1st, I never got the impression that brothers were favoured over sisters when it came to basic needs.

2nd, sisters were very talented and made really good use of resources, whether sewing, cooking, or whatever else. I never went hungry and I don't agree that the food was bland, though it was samey - as there tended to be a lot of one thing stocked at a time - potatoes, fish etc

As regards clothes, the sisters drew a lot of attention from people like Laura Ashley because of their iconic (pseudo Amish) clothing. I recall someone doing a feature on their clothes ina women's magazine. As a brother I was always proud of the sisters' attire, partly, I imagine, out of a sentimental attachment to the idea of us being a religious community in the Bruderhov style.

Some of you seem determined to paint the sisters as down-trodden, when I saw them then and still do as really very strong in many ways.

Coming from the point of view of people who have been abused may make you jaundiced about the fact that sisters chose to join, chose their way of life and did it with lots of energy.

I was not aware of rationing, not in the negative way you are painting it. Rather, I would say, look at how well they managed their material. Look how resourceful they were.
