WELL done to the Stafford Newsletter for front page coverage of the resignation of Terry Deighton as an auditor of Stafford Hospital.

Stafford Hospital is like a much loved but very sick relative with a large malignant tumour. It will never recover by everyone pretending that it has been cured: the cancer must be removed and the patient nursed back to health.

There are good dedicated doctors, nurses and consultants at Stafford Hospital, virtual angels, and it is for their benefit as well as the patients in their care that the things which are wrong be put right.

I am not at all impressed by David Kidney’s spin doctor, Diana Smith’s political propaganda ramblings. I have not forgotten her little outburst at the Democracy Club meeting in Burslem in February, when she called Julie Bailey a “placard-waving exhibitionist”.

If we are going to cure Stafford Hospital we need to drop the duplicity and be honest and open, just as Terry Deighton has been.

Again, thank you Stafford Newsletter for your excellent coverage.
