Subject: what mistakes will the JA actually admit to, though?
In reply to: Miss sally 's message, "Zion thread on jesus army forum" on 10/03/10 12:24:21am

Miss Sally, the JA HAVE ALWAYS said that things went wrong IN THE PAST. They said it before I joined in 1982.

It has always been a way of silencing criticism to say that people who are not with the JA any more made mistakes way back in the distant past. - by implication, that was then, this is now.

It is almost a mantra; so much so that almost nobody saying it can actually say what mistakes actually were made. It is said by people who were not there back then, have next to no idea what did happen and, to their credit, would be shocked if they did.

But the people who were there usually keep very quiet. If anyone out here mentions any of the mistakes they get denied vehemently. Specifics are always denied.

For instance, I tried to very politely raise the issue on the JA website of lost salvation being suggested as the destiny of anyone who broke covenant with the fellowship. Tschaka refused to publish the posting, which he said implied that heresy was once taught. He couldn't believe it had been.

To his credit he later emailed me to say that he had been asking around and had been shocked to learn from the elders that actually I was not lying, that people had been bullied into believing that if they left they would be damned.

That admission was astonishing because it is something which has been consistently denied for 25 years.

So please can I invite you, Sally, to say what "mistakes" the fellowship now happily admits to?
