Food for thought. What does it mean?

By Bob Trescott

Hebrews 13:8 NASB Jesus Christ {is} the same yesterday and today, {yes} and forever. This means Jesus Christ's attributes are the same yesterday and today, and forever. Not that he does everything the same way yesterday and today, and forever. His dealings with mankind demonstrates that fact. The word "GOSPEL" means Good News. Giving of the Law was Good News to Israel. It was not Good News to the Gentiles because they had to become Jewish proselytes inorder to be saved. See: Eph. 2:12: That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: Thesr are words that we must understand. Before our Apostle; Paul was selected by the risen and Glorified Christ, we Gentiles were without God and without hope in the world. That does not mean Paul saves us it means we are saved by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ through Pauls ministry. Peter and the twelve never went into all the world and made disciples. The reason for this was they could not win Israel first and that was their Great commission.
Our commission is 2 Cor. 5: 16-20. Look at 2 Cor. 5:16: NASB Therefore from now on we recognize no man according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know {Him} {thus} no longer. The twelve knew Christ according to the flesh or according to His earthly ministry, they taught Christ according to the flesh or according to His earthly ministry, the Law which was to the Jews only. Paul is saying there is a change we know Him no more this way. We know the heavenly Christ that Paul introduced us to. Paul was the Masterbuilder of this new knowledge of Christ. That is the reason for the next verse 2 Cor. 5:17: NASB Therefore if any man is in Christ, {he is} a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. The old things being Christ after the flesh (the law)the new things are the mystery that was hidden in God from the foundation of the world. Think about it! Paul had a ministry to Gentiles just as Moses, the prophets, Christ and the twelve had to Isreal. At the end of Pauls ministery there was only one GOSPEL; to the Jews and Gentiles alike the results of that GOSPEL; a new church which God calls the body of Christ.
