Subject: Tail sores

Hi,
I recently purchased a Chin and when I got her home I noticed she had what looked like a bite on her tail. Upon further examination I found they were deep and there were several. I cleaned them w/ soap and water and brought her to the vet. He suggested returning her to the store for a new one, but didn't offer any treatment or advice other than continue washing it if we keep it. He said her tail might fall off and it could be indicative of a more serious problem but that he couldn't guess what it might be!!!! Well, we're keeping her, but I was wondering if anyone knows anything aobut this???
