Subject: Gandhi probably did do Kriya
In reply to: gandhi - 15 Jan 2004 's message, "Re: website" on 06:43:39 02/28/04 Sat

I can imagine Gandhi to be the kind of devotee who would not share his deepest spiritual experiences or most treasured pactices with anyone. Such is a sattvic devotee's inclination. He also promised Yogananda he would earnestly practice Kriya for a full 6 months and let him know at the end of that time whether he got anything out of it and whether he would continue with the practice. I dont see Gandhi as someone who would not keep his word on any subject let alone a promise to a Paramahansa by whom he had been initiated into a sadhana.

Repeating the kriya krishna mantra is a process that happens during practice of the second kriya. Gandhi was presumably initiated into the first kriya so he may not have had to repeat it. Besides, there is no conflict in doing japa of Ram mantra, if that is one's favourite deity (as it was Gandhi's, because for him Rama represented the ideal manifestation of God as man, whose kingdom was said to be so harmonius that during his tenure not one person fell sick) along with practice of kriya krishna mantra during practice of higher kriyas. This is done silently and an observer may have no inkling of what is going on within the heart and mind of a practitioner.

You should think a little more deeply before making such hasty and sweeping statements. How the hell would Gandhi's family or anyone else know what he was doing during his periods of silence and meditation?
