An important point to keep in mind on this subject is that Walters narcisissm doesn't mean he comes across as cold or cruel to the public. A narcisisstic personality creates a false self that they present to the world. They live to have others reflect this false self back to them. Walters false self is that of the gentle, kindly, all powerfull but humble, wise saint. He plays this self scripted role expertly on the stage of life he has set up for himself. He subtly manipulates his followers to believe he is realized, when they say it, he gets to chuckle, gently saying, "Who, me?" Playing the part of the self effacing wise man. The proof that this is only a false self is in his slips and lapses...such as when his sexual addiction to young nuns came out into public view in the 1994 trial. This is important to understand because sincere, well meaning seekers, unaware of this dynamic, fall hook, line and sinker for Walters carefully crafted character. They are truly convinced that before them stands a Great Man of God...a humble direct disciple of a great guru. Carefull and exacting discrimination are needed to sort out the truth. Wisdom from many years on the path and a deep understanding of the Guru's true spirit and teachings are needed to be able to discern the glaring, screeching contradictions just under the placid surface of Walters hypnotic illusion.
