I guess I should preface my inquiry with my reasons for the assumption of a spiritual discipline (12 steps) which, much much deeper past the surface view, appears to be a discipline of right action through acknowledgement of responsibility of wrong actions.

Being a student, not as versed as many here appear to be, of Yoga as taught by SRF and other camps, maybe one of you may recognize a like-application of the ancient teachings of East.

The program which has been around over 60 years. Man has taken the true spiritual guiding principles and created uncontested mental barriers. One being "Once a (insert attachment) ALWAYS a (insert attachment)." I somehow at somepoint of by continually applying them for me. The only word change in the steps is the word "we/our/us" to "I/me/myself." God being personal, I find that to be the error in judgement. Also, because it's spoken of as a "group" or fellowship, I recognize the unconscious willingness to follow first person who understands or so they think.

Nonetheless from my personal practice of them, the soul journey leads me consciously here, with you, humbly seeking emancipation from the body-conscious ego, more importantly a burning desire to mee/be with the Cosmic Beloved. I will present the steps for you, for your analysis. My personal input will be in ().

Step 1. (Ego is reins king prior to this admission) We admitted powerless over "insert attachment"---that our lives had become unmanageable.

Step 2. Came to believe in a Power greater than ourselves could restore me to sanity(Self-Realization)

Step 3. (Principle Guidline) Made decision to turn my will and life over to the care of God as I understand Him.

In the following 7 steps, one can become aware of the ego and the inherit qualitities that creates the byproducts experienced as "unmanageability" spoken of in the very first step, to which escape(attachement) is sought or death is soon to follow.

"The senses, mind, and intellect are said to be desire's formidable stronghold; through these, desire deludes the embodied soul by eclipsing its wisdom"..(Gita Chapter III Verse 40)

Step 4.(enter the introspection discipline) Made a "fearless" and "moral" inventory of myself.

Step 5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of my wrongs.

Step 6. I am entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

Step 7. Humbly ask Him to remove my short-comings.

Step 8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and become willing to make amends to them all.

Step 9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

Step 10. (continuous-instrospection) Continued to take inventory and wrong, promptly admit it.

Step 11. (Enter the Yoga practice) Sought through prayer and meditation to improve my conscious contact with God, praying only for his will and the power to carry that out.

Step 12. (Soul awareness begins to be experienced...I believe this step is not consciously applied but more naturally given or expressed) Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to "insert attachments"(for me there are no divisions, so these spiritual principles is applicable to all body-conscious mind) and practice these principles in all my affairs.

Let me add, I understand that full enlightenment may only be granted by a true realized Master, but again these are as stated earlier, a condensed precursor that can awaken the soul to seek "higher" education, if you will.

Jaya Jagatambe Seeta Raadhe,
Gauri Durge Namoh Namah
Paalana Karani Bhava Bhava Harani
Kaali Durge Namoh Namah

I look forward to any feedback,
Your Brother
