Consistence and prolonged effort. According to some to miss one day's kriya is to regress by three days.

Trying to hold onto the effects of meditation, and trying to always remember the divine goal. Paramahansa Yogananda said that the greatest help in the spiritual path would be to keep constantly mentally communing with God in the language of your heart at all times. This is much like the practice of the presence of God as described by Brother Lawrence.

One of my favourite quotes of all time about the spiritual path was by Radhasoami guru known as Mataji (Nirmala Pandit). When she was asked how anyone can sit still and keep their mind on God for long periods she gave this reply:

"By falling in love, because when one is truly in love nothing but
the Beloved can enter one's mind. So the secret of Surat Shabda
Yoga and of mysticism is not necessarily 'practice and more
practice,' but love. To be so devoted to one's Lord that nothing
can stand in the way, this and nothing else is the truth
of Sant Mat."
