Subject: The Teacher


I have known my obligation to love God in all things, and I have endeavored to do. Consequently I've had no need of a director to advise me, but I have required a confessor to absolve my faults.

When I went through a period in which I was very much troubled in mind, I consulted nobody. Through the light of faith I knew that God was present with me, and I contented myself with directing all my actions to Him. By this I mean that I did all things with a desire to please Him, let what would come of it.


I have had no occasion to consult with anybody about my state. When I've attempted to do so, I've always come away more perplexed.
