This post may be an unprofitable waste of time and I may be snooping in a area I should not, because I am a SRF yogi.

Regardless, it is my understanding Shibendu has one complete certain numbers of 1st kriya and when that is done you can get the second. Hence I assume when a certain number of the 4rth kriya are complete, the kriyas are over and one no longer does them. I also was told by a long term devotee of Shibendu that one does the 1st kriya a bit at higher stages, and one other kriya is the focus. Hence if he had 3rd, some 1st would be done, but mostly the third.

Predominately, Hendrik is right, these numbers are symbolic and one has to keep on until the job is finished, it seems to me. My predominate concern is how did LAHIRI MAHASAYA actually teach it. I guess we may never know. Consequently, I am left with MY practice.
