Just as Albert Einstein would do as a High School physics teacher until we could find someone better.

Even if you were to find a genuine Kriya adept, unless you were free to go and live in an Indian ashram you might not be able to spend much time with such a guru. The legacy of P. Yogananda is so rich that for most people it may well be possible to learn more from his teachings than from a living guru.

In any event I believe it is also a matter of examining which path you feel drawn towards, rather than following the current fashion.
