Subject: St Joseph of Copertino

September 18th - Feast day of St Joseph of Copertino, the "Flying Monk" mentioned before on this board.

This 17th century saints levitations were witnessed by many notables of his time, including Pope Urban VIII. On one occasion he was saved from the Spanish Inquisition when he levitated over the heads of his inquisitors.

His flights may have been helped by his habit of fasting seven times each year for forty days at a time (yes 280 days each year without food - beat that David Blaine).
