Its not a question of being perfect enough or getting better each time around. There is a period of dissolution (night of Brahma) and a period of manifestation (day of Brahma). These are based on a set cycle, a mathematical law. Individualized souls that are projected either attain their liberation before the day turns into night or they do not. If not they return the next day to continue the journey. Its like going to sleep after a full days walking. If you do not reach your destination during that day there is always the next but rest assured you are going to reach it someday. Its all up to you, up to God who is manifesting Him/Her/Itself as you.
