Shailendra Sharma is an accomplished kriya yoga master who by his consciousness and inner development more than demonstrates his effectiveness in performing kechar mudra.

This is no argument at all, but obfuscation. Kechari Mudra is a physical technique. Mastery of physical techniques is demonstrated by physical accomplishment of them, not by consciousness or inner development. A long tongue is enough to do it. Cows and frogs can do Kechari better than Shailendra on the MRI.

If Shailendra is unable to achieve higher states of Kechari and is yet held to 'demonstrate his effectiveness' in performing it, the same can be said about everyone who has mastered the initial stages of Kechari including successful SRF Kriyavans, but then your discussion becomes redundant because Shailendra is not ahead of them in this regard.

The final test for any spiritual practice is its effectiveness in facilitating the union with the Self.

No. The "any" is wrong. "Union with the Self" is the sole preoccupation of a number of Yoga branches only, including those of Ramana Maharshi, most Jnana Yoga lines, and perhaps Lahiri Mahasaya (I don't know what he exactly taught). For them it may be a final test, but not for all others.

Yogananda was not Lahiri Mahasaya. You make the same mistake like Shibendu and a number of other current Kriya experts in generalizing from your own intellectual understanding, experience, predilection and current affiliation to any teacher at once to all yoga and spiritual undertaking. It is a common malady and, if you ask me, characteristic for the narrowness of the modern Western Mind.

I have a report of one German mystic who after decades of hard tapasya had achieved union with Self but later realized that all this endeavor was futile seen from a larger point of view and indeed a subtle form of egocentrism. He then converted to Christianity which accelerated his inner progress. The question of course remains whether his realization of Self had been necessary at all - hadn't he made the effort and hence not got there he probably wouldn't have had the chance to realize the limitation of its scope either. It is the old paradox.

I think he is more qualified than you to talk about what constitutes effective kechari mudra.

It seems from the contact with Master Shailendra you have now obtained the ability of second sight, even extending to judging people posting on message boards. What about me -- have I mastered Kechari or haven't I? I am eager to learn about the findings of your remote diagnosis, Dr. Ron.
