老陳細想這個問題其實都有d意思，撇開詩不詩「停止」這二字很有點特別，英文看 it suddenly stopped eating the grass無問題，中文看停止了一件事情和停止做一件事情，會有少少分別，例如停止跳舞和停止了音樂都常用，突然停止了跳舞或突然停止音樂其實也多人用，所以說「突然停止了吃草」應無問題，唯一問題最多是語法上可以不用「了」字而已。

順便說說，關於虛字有些流行用法都幾好笑，例如

我們從小認識
我們從小便認識 (常見於廣東人，普通話多用就字)

沒有急切需要
沒有急切性需要 (常見於京官，其鍾意「凡事定性」也，不過看電視訪問好多時香港人都非常愛用)

說回那詩，好不好我認為關鍵不在二個了字上，用不用了分別也不大。
