Here's the thing, in my mind. They never actually had a sex scene. Yes, it was heavily implied, but that's it. We saw a backrub and a kiss. And the comment that it's easier for women to be themselves when there are no men around. End scene. Geez, my parents have done racier stuff in front of me. (And I think the idea of your parents having sex is much more traumatic than homosexuality). The "Sex scene" was really on par with Jayne's line "I'll be in my bunk".
