I hope it doesn't sound too ghoulish, but I wonder if FOX is ever going to show the episodes that are being completed right now. It was said that Joss went to the set to break the news to the cast, and that the filming and post production would be finished.

Re: Buffy's initial terrible ratings. It is somewhat misleading to talk about Buffy's bad ratings in it's first season. First of all, though the ratings were terrible compared to shows on other networks, Buffy was the WB's number one show within weeks of starting. Further, when the ratings look the worst for Buffy that year, the WB was already running the show twice a week. It even ran two times a week in reruns most of the following summer. For all intents and purposes, Buffy was the only 'success' the WB had at the time.

In a sense Buffy the series was a success because Buffy the movie had been such a disaster. Joss learned from his own mistakes and learned something about what others could do to ruin his work. I think from Firefly Joss has probably learned a few more things to demand in contract negotiations when he comes up with his next project. I can't help but feel good things will come from the current sad state of the Firefly saga.
