It would've been a great beginning to a great show. I had misgivings about Firefly (I always do, as it's a character flaw of mine) but have come to love it. Wonderful characters, intelligent writing, the unexpected "je ne sais quoi", just what one would expect from Mr. Whedon, but apparently Fox were confused. Maybe they thought that they were commisionning the next Star Trek franchise (but not Deep Space Nine, as its creators also cared about character and complexity, at least in the beginning).
So, I've come to love a show and it's been cancelled. I'm both angry and delighted to have been shown the way it could have begun.
Not enough action? These people are on Mars (or Venus, it doesn't matter). I'm kicking myself for having missed some of the episodes and wish that I would learn about Book's secret, the fate of Simon and River, and the fates of all the other beautifully realized relationships aboard Serenity.
