I like the Chinese too. First, it reminds me of Bladerunner and that's good. Second, it is historically interesting, what with the Chinese railroad laborers in the American Old West. And third, it makes sense that 500 years would add borrowed words to what is ostensibly English.

Whoa, doggie, there's a little problem. ME's illusion of Chinese slang or tech words infiltrating English breaks down when 500 years of English sounds mostly the same as 2002 English, or actually some psuedo-1882 Emglish.

And linguists correct me, but isn't the rule that the colony's language stays more true to that of the colonists' original home, while the homeland's language changes away from the original?

So I'm saying, (technically) there should be more Chinese in the language, or English should have changed more... but I am all about the disbelief and suspending and all. I get that.
