If it weren't for TiVO, I wouldn't be watching Monk or The Dead Zone. I never can keep track of when cable shows are on, especially with all the preemptions, time changes, and reruns. So I program a Season Pass for new viewings of a certain show, and when I have time to watch I check what's on TiVO. You can't skip the commercials; you have to fast foreward through them, which is what I do with videotape anyway, and VCRs haven't killed tv. Tivo will stop at the nearest scene break after you stop fast forewarding, so if you overshoot a little you'll end up right at the beginning of the scene, and not have to rewind a little.
