$$ The tobiano filly dances atop a hillcrest, looking for something to do. Amadeus, she knew, was off being diplomatic. There were, to her knowledge, few other little ones in the terra. Few of interest, anyway. She turns to view the entire terra, save the places shadowed by the ancient evergreens. Pawing the ground, she wonders what other fillys have tread this groud before her. She realizes with a start that she is one-and-a-half today. It hadn't seemed that long ago that she was just a suckling foal, with her mother. The black-and-white filly sighs as the thoughts of her family flood her. It has been a long time since she had thought of them. Trying to get away from such upsetting memories, she turns and races down the hillside. The airy breeze, combined with her speed, tangle her mane and tail and lighten her step. There is nothing like new spring air to get a filly back in high spirits, she thought. Romany slides to a halt, inches away from plowing into a young tree. She laughs silently, amused by this near-catastrophe. $$
