Cold, hunger, good-mare, food. Content. Curiousity: who's he? Good-mare says good-stallion. What's that? Good-mare makes me turn away.

Yes... that was it. The picture is clear in his mind, his ever-so-slightly elder brother's prone form, still but remaining warm, sprawled upon the ground.
