Populist Ideas
*Populist Platform
-gov. put up a warehouse for farmers to deposit goods
-farmers used goods for collateral & could get money from gov.
-populist wanted to end national banks
-asked for regulation of ownership of railroads,telephones,&telegraphs
-demanded a system of gov.operated postal saving banks,graduated oincome tax,&inflation of currency
-demanded the remonetization of silver
-said the Jews were trying to enslave them
-other were anti-intellectual,anti-eastern&anti-urban
*Populism's Ideological Challenge
-were against the brutal way the economy was developing
-progress& growth should continue but should be more strict
