1. I moved back to Portland and set up my own studio called Studio 4.
LA was cool for a while but it just wasn't home. I am still going to
be doing some projects with Woodcraft Rangers whenever I can. I
believe in those kids after school programs rock. I am also going to
be doing a bunch of projects and collaborations down there from time
to time. But I had to move home and it's good to be back in Portland!
I am going to be teaching songwriting in public schools once a week
beginning next year as well.

2. I am doing my own recordings now as a singer/songwriter/producer
out of Studio 4 in Portland and my new record is really starting to
come together. There was a bit of a delay but now that I am recording
my own, things are moving along very rapidly. I hope to have a
complete record done by Spring 09.

3. John Oates, Jed Leiber and I wrote a song together that is the
title track on John Oates' new solo record. The song (and his record)
is called "1,000 Miles of Life." I am very proud of it and frankly,
John made a great record! It features performances from Blues
Traveler's John Popper, Bela Fleck, Blind Boys of Alabama, Steve
Cropper, Bonnie Bramlett and many others. Our song is on the Grammy
Ballot this year as well so that is exciting!

Among my favorite songs on the record are: "1,000 Miles of Life" and
"Ghost Town." "Ghost Town, is an amazing track that John wrote as a
result of Hurricane Katrina about New Orleans...I LOVE this
song...amazing stuff.
