] Date Posted: 15:38:53 10/29/04 Fri Jack Straw has announced that there will probably be a referendum on the EU Constitution in Britain in early 2006. This gives us just over a year to mobilise our position and get the message out that there is a British alternative to Europe. Our future, for Britain, depends entirely on this referendum. If the 'yes' side wins, we are sunk and we will have to go with a federation of only Canada, Australia and New Zealand. However, if the 'no' side wins, then this will open up an opportunity for us. We must get ready for this - all of us, not just the UK people. One good thing, is that a Yougov poll shows that the majority of British people prefer the Conservative position on Europe, even if they vote Labour. This is encouraging. A strong 'no' vote will be a big boost to get a campaign for the FC started. Right now, we have a year to work on securing a 'no' vote in Britain - which is no assured thing. Our future depends on it. We must concentrate on this vital first step. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
