Date Posted: 16:47:59 12/18/04 Sat ... unless, of course, one takes the precaution of not being a penniless hippie living in a squat in Stoke Newington. Then it's quite nice. As for not being British, I defy you to produce a foreigner whose images of Britain are not all London images: Routemasters, Buck House, Westminster, all the rest of it. Uninformed as this may be, and as much as your images of Britain may be noble Highland Cattle lowering their heads to the loch beyint the glen, or cricket on the lawn near a gothic pub in Surrey, or whatever, to 99% of the world's population, it's London. Date Posted: 16:49:25 12/18/04 Sat ... I think that the FC capital should under no circumstances be London. No one outside Britain is going to swallow a proposal which places their new capital in a city which is so country-specific as London. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 23:04:41 12/20/04 Mon London is a unique place. It's different from the rest of Britain and also from anywhere else on earth. It's instantly recognisable and iconic. It's stupid to say it 'could be anywhere' just because it's multi-ethinic and international. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
