This is awful news. Especially so close to Christmas. Of the seven most affected countries, five are Commonwealth members: Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Maldives and Sri Lanka.

I pray that all members of the Commonwealth can work together to help those in need and that warning systems can be put in place to give greater warning if such an event happens again.
