Subject: Recent Practices

We have had two very good practices this past Friday and again last nite (Tuesday). We have recommitted ourselves to what is really the most fundamental aspect of what we do: playing our bagpipes and drums together.

As a band, we have played the entire medely 17 times in the last 4 days. I don't know for sure how many practices you would have to add up prior to that to get 17 times thru the set, but I'm sure it wouldn't be two.

Some of you are dying to analyze what went right/wrong with each performance. Believe me, I have to hold my tongue as well. We've gotten into the habit of analyzing each and every performance for 10 minutes after playing it. We're trying a different approach now.

I'm trying to make you all into little bagpiping machines. These machines will be able to hum along all night long, playing their instruments with no worry or question about getting tired. I think that then, and only then, will any tinkering with the machines have any effect.

I appreciate all of your patience as we strive to reach this goal. I must say that I've already seen some significant improvement in our playing.

LDP's, get practicing.
