There is no way! It has to do with hardware, not software, unless it is a recent cd-rom and MAYBE the manufacturer just disabled the DVD player capabilities, but I HIGHLY DOUBT IT!!
DVD's use a smaller laser wavelength, which allows for smaller "holes" in the cd/dvd, which allows more data to be stored. Without this laser, and probably other stuff, it won't work. Forget it.
