speaking of filling against dell, I have a $3000 dimension where both the hard disk and CD burner failed within the first 6 months. I filed a claim against dell through the BBB as dell was unwilling to send replacement parts at first and their tech support treated me as if I knew nothing about computers, I'm an engineer! I won the settlement, which included replacement parts, as well as a small amount of money. It was quite a bit of work to do, but well worth it in the end. I was suprised the hard drive went, being an IBM drive, but all IDE drives are unreliable. These days people would rather buy a computer for $700 than pay a decent amount for one that is reliable. From my experience doing work as a techician, only about 60% of parts made in regions like Taiwan work. That's a lot of hassle trying to exchange goods. I rather they go back to manufacturing in Japan, who cares if it costs more, at least there will be a higher yield of working parts.
