Subject: General Laptop Questions

Hey there. I've been using desktop and laptop computers for years, but I've never gone into the realm of laptop computer hardware. See, I'm confused about a few things. I'll just list my questions:

Apparently, video and sound "cards" are integrated on the motherboard. If I wanted to buy a motherboard with a video "card" and sound "card," where would I go? I can't find any places that sell them in combinations or anything like that...

What about speakers? Are they integrated too? CD-ROM, floppy, power supply, battery? How does that all work?

See, I want to build a custom laptop, but I don't want to do it with a standard laptop case. So, like I'd do with a desktop, I'm looking for the individual components. So can anyone help me out? Thanks a ton!
