Subject: My parents and I...
In reply to: mikey 's message, "Spring Is Almost Here" on 03:55:21 02/23/09 Mon

made a quick trip to Dayton, OH last week. This was only the second time I spent any time traveling with my parents since I was 15... Back then I'd have to tell Daddy an hour before I needed a bathroom that I needed one... Now they stop at every rest area... So I got plenty of time to observe nature while I was waiting for them. I gotta say once again. I'm SO GLAD I live in the south. I about froze to death. It rained and snowed and weathered a lot more than I like for it to. It didn't help my feelings to have to change motel rooms in the middle of the night.. That's such another story.

I did notice signs of spring almost all the way up there. We saw something blooming white in TN and never did decide what it was. There were 3 trees in full bloom within about a 5 mile stretch on the interstate.

So around here the daffy dills are about gone. The redbuds are looking very nice and some of the earlier fruit trees are in full bloom. My plum tree is beautiful. It's been in the 70s here all week, but is supposed to drop to the 60s over the weekend. My plan is to do some major work in the herb garden this week. I want it to be totally ready for spring so that I can work on another new bed somewhere. Ed's promised me a flower garden for cut flowers and I expect it's going to take a lot of work.
