... had a trio of Royal Palms and they were kept in a small pen. When I visited, the tom was displaying, all puffed up, big as a house. He was a meany, to people. When we got near, he'd charge the fence at us, probably cuz the one hen was on a nest.

Also, I knew someone else who had some turkeys. She had a huge Royal Palm tom in a pen with some mixed breed hens. It was a much larger pen than the one mentioned above. This tom was nice as could be. Their little boy, who was I think 3 yrs at the time, would "ride" the tom, LOL. It was cute... He'd lay over the tom's back and the tom would stroll casually around the pen carrying the little tot. But that tom would display, also.

As far as the other questions, I don't know - though, I thought turkeys were seasonal layers. Regarding the attack, maybe the hen was pms-ing. lol
