Subject: The Days Are Gettin' Shorter!

I like the fact that we did not have to turn back our clocks yet. We are in an extreme drought situation here. The Guvnor is thinking about declaring a state of emergency. What good that will do, I have no idea! Not only has this affected the farmers, it has affected the recreational aspect of this area also. The lakes are down so far that it is unsafe to do any boating. If one can get their boat to the water deep enough to launch, that is! Most are trying to get their boats out of the water, for some, it's too late. Theirs are sitting on the ground with no way of getting through the mud to even try and get them on a trailer. It has also affected the trees. I have counted several Oaks, Maples, and Gum trees on my property that have died this summer. I will wait till spring to see if they can come back before I cut them down for firewood. Where's all them herricanes and himacanes that we were supposed to have this year? We count a lot on them to bring us rain........ Humberto came through and gave us some relief for a very short time. I am still getting a few golf ball size tomatoes.. and the plants are still blooming, dry as it is! I have to check the plants often because the birds are getting more than their share.... birds like tomatoes! Had to make a trip to Tenn. last week. My aunt that has been sick for the past 15 months, finally passed away. We will miss her, but, she is in a much better place.. Now, I will have to make another trip to help move all her stuff out so her house can be sold. She was a widow and had no kids so she left all of us something.
