I popped in to our local Winn Dixie Sunday afternoon to pick up a few things. I had white rice and brown rice on my list because I was totally out of brown rice and had very little white rice. The store had almost sold out of rice and were limiting the number of pounds you could buy. I only picked up what I needed. When I got to the register, I asked the checker about it, she said people had been buying rice like crazy. Many people were buying the limit. They had almost nothing left on the shelves.

I asked my Mom about it later and she said she'd talked to a cousin that had made a special trip to the store for rice, cornmeal and flour. This was before the store started limiting what one could buy. She bought an outrageous amount of each item and stored it in her freezer. I haven't checked out any other stores to see what they are doing.
