Her husband had built a duck pond for their two young ducks, and they're fine. The gosling wasn't kept with the ducks because she was too small and could escape from the pen. She lived in the house (they had her only 2 wks), and they had a kiddie pool for her to swim in occasionally. So she was able to dunk her head, but I'm not sure if it was on a daily basis, or just once in a while.

I also asked if they had given her any medicated feed, and I'm waiting to hear back on that one. Kirsty wondered if the ivy the gosling nibbled on in the yard was perhaps poisonous to her. She didn't mention what kind of ivy it was. (She lives in the UK.)

Another thing I found out was that the gosling didn't have a regular heat source because the farm where they got her from said that baby geese are very hardy and would be fine. The vet had felt that being in the house would have been warm enough also. A few of us on the board disagreed and told her that next time provide a heat source until it's feathered out.

But, Hummer, if you read all this, and have any ideas on the death of the gosling, I know Kirsty would love to hear them. Thanks!

CB
