The excuse that it costs the board the same amount of $$ is accurate. The problem I have is that there are plenty of qualified people that need a good job. By letting a person retire and then rehire into the same position the poor guy or gal at the bottom of the ladder never gets a chance to improve thier situation. If you want to retire, then do it all the way and let the youger generation have a shot at advancement and prosperity. The notion that you get to retain an experienced employee is true, but how can anyone ever get experience when the old foggies won't get out of the way. By the way, I am 57 years old, retired and out of the way. There is a young man and his young family filling my spot and the company has not gone under yet! My term to this situation is greed and the indication that these "retiree's/rehiree's" have spent so much time climbing the ladder that they have not embraced the immortality equation. Live life now, while you are still able to move on your own!!
